I am obsessed with my kitchen—it’s the command centre of my pad, the hub of my home, my main hangout space. I love pottering around in it over the weekend, or unwinding in it after a long working day. I need the space to feel loved, and to look and feel as cool as every other room in the house. The bottom line is that although kitchens do have to be practical, I want mine to be magical as well!
This isn’t to say you can’t use a bold stone in a compact kitchen, just that it will feel even more dramatic in scale, meaning you probably will want to keep the other finishes very sedate. Notice how many of these spaces use the same dramatic stone for the counter and the backsplash, making for a truly singular statement.
This is a brave step that can pay off big in terms of design impact. It’s also a good reason to enlist the guidance of a design professional, like the experts at your local ProSource Showroom, to help you plan and coordinate.
Two-toned kitchens and warm natural selections – like clay, copper, gold, henna, and ginger are becoming a hot choice selection for next season. Nature influence and reflections in coloring may be expected to have a strong stand next season – from the terracotta colored soil up to the green hues of the wilderness. There are signs that for the third year in a row the dark hues and tonalities will have a significant presence in the modern kicked color palette.
